I've worn a LOT of different hair extensions in my life, and the burning question still remains... which kind of remy hair extension is best??? Since "one size does not fit all", or in this case "type" does not fit all, then you really need to explore the pros and cons of each extension type before you buy!
Let's look at two very popular hair extension types, clip-in and halo hair, and see if we can find a winner.
Clip-in Human Hair Extensions
Number of pieces: 8, 10, or 12 individual weft pieces (depending on how big the gram weight)
How is it applied: With small metal snap clips. The clips have a silicone strip on the base that helps to protect your hair from breakage.

Do they look natural: Yes, the multiple wefts sit layered in your hair. Your natural hair mixed with the extension hair and it looks very natural.

How is it applied: With a invisible, clear, adjustable thread that sits under your hair like a halo.
Time to put on: 5 minutes
Heavy on your head: Small gram weights (100 to 240) no, not really. Large gram weights (280 and up) yes, can get heavy especially wearing for long periods of time.
Style ability: Limited to down hairdo's, it is very hard to pull the hair up since the single weft does not have clips to clip into your hair. You can however, slide the weft over to one side and create amazing side braids and ponytails. It is difficult to add more wefts for color, layers, or extra volume. The halo weft, when applied, will be a single layer between your hair. This makes it a bit more difficult to blend the extensions into your natural hair, especially if you are trying to mix colors. Clip-ins have multiple layers that easily blend into your hair. If you are a clip-in wearer, this application will take time to get used to.
Damage to hair: None because there are no clips. Good for those with fragile hair.
